I recently bought Sarissa's "La Belle Alliance" MDF kit, it seemed like a nice & easy kit for a first time kit builder like myself. I must say it is a terrific building and it looks quite like the original one.
In any case, me and the misses had a lot of fun assembling & painting the kit, but for god sake i had no idea MDF sucked up so much paint. Here are the results:
Historically La Belle Alliance was a tavern which is said to have gotten his name when the proprietress, who apparently had somewhat loose moral standards wanted to marry a villager who also had loose morals . When the local pastor heard about this union he suggested, somewhat ironically to name their tavern "La Belle Alliance".
Napoleon used La Belle Alliance as his headquarters during the battle of Waterloo.Since the building was located in the center of the french deployment it was ideal for this purpose.
It was at this building that The Duke of Wellington and Field Marshal Blücher met after the battle.
Blücher wanted to victory to be remembered as "The Battle of La Belle Alliance", but Wellington preferred calling it "The Battle of Waterloo".
Now the hard part, what building shall i get next? Maybe step it up a notch with a more complex building:)
Special thanks to https://abrushwithbattles.wordpress.com who's Belle Alliance helped me a lot doing mine.
